Two Frogs
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit.
Một đàn ếch đang đi ngang qua một khu rừng thì hai con trong đàn bị lọt xuống một cái hố sâu.
When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.
Khi đàn ếch thấy hố quá sâu, chúng bèn bảo hai con ếch bị lọt hố nên nằm chờ chết.
The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might.
Hai con ếch kia bỏ ngoài tai những lời bình luận và cố gắng nhảy ra khỏi hố.
The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead.
Đàn ếch lại tiếp tục bảo chúng đừng nhảy nữa mà hãy nằm chờ chết.
Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
Cuối cùng một trong hai con ếch nghe lời đàn ếch và bỏ cuộc. Nó ngã xuống chết.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die.
Con ếch còn lại vẫn tiếp tục dồn hết sức lực để nhảy. Một lần nữa, cả đàn ếch hét toáng lên bảo nó là đừng nhọc công vô ích, chỉ có chết thôi.
He jumped even harder and finally made it out.
Nó càng nhảy mạnh hơn và cuối cùng nó đã làm được.
When he got out, the other frogs said, ""Did you not hear us?""
Khi con ếch ra khỏi hố, đàn ếch hỏi nó: ""Anh không nghe chúng tôi nói gì à?""
An old frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
Một con ếch già giải thích với đàn ếch là con ếch kia bị điếc. Nó tưởng đàn ếch đã động viên nó từ đầu đến cuối.
